*-*Contains Breaking Dawn Spoilers*-*
Books with bad endings are, in my opinion, one of the worst things imaginable. Imagine reading a book that is so absolutely fantastic that you can't put it down. But once you get to the end, you're disappointed because it didn't achieve your expectations that you had for it. It's such a let down after such an amazing story.
You see, I've just finished reading Breaking Dawn. I have to say the story as a whole is simply incredible. It has so many twists and turns in it you just don't know what will happen next. But once I'd finished I was a little disappointed. I mean, by the end of it (SPOILER ALERT!) Jacob doesn't like her and likes someone else, Charlie's not alone and Bella can let Edward read her thoughts. All the stuff she was worried about, all the things that should have stayed the same turned out alright. Where's the action? Where's the mystery? I sort of wanted someone to die in the book as well, one of the main characters perhaps. But instead Irina dies and that just means nothing. If Charlie or Carlisle had died it would have been a lot more interesting. Although saying that, I think Stephenie Meyer would have been hunted down and eaten by her fans if she killed a main character off.
Saying this, the story did have a lot of suspense at the end what with the Volturi bring the whole guard with them to make sure Renesme is killed. That part I did find gripping but even so, I was hoping for at least a little bit of a fight. Not just all talk and understanding. Aro shouldn't have been so civilized. Don't get me wrong, I didn't want the Cullens and their friends to lose and die, I just wanted a bit more action - perhaps similar to the battle with Victora and the newborns in Eclipse just on a larger scale.
Other then that, I thoroughly enjoyed Breaking Dawn and I'm looking forward to Midnight Sun and the Twilight Film. ![]()
However, Midnight Sun isn't complete yet and so I'll have to wait a bit longer. The film is out in the UK on January 1st 2009 so hopefully I'll be able to see it a few days after my birthday.
Something I've just found out, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has had it's release date pushed back a few of months.
Before, they were planning to release it on November 21st 2008 but now it's being release July 17th 2009. Talk about a date swap.
I'm heartbroken now.
